Tae Kwon Do- what's in it for my child?

Paradoxical as it seems, practicing martial arts here at Eagle Spirit Academy will increase your child's self-confidence without encouraging aggressive behavior; in fact, the longer your son or daughter stays with martial arts training, the less likely they will be to initiate a physical confrontation. The reason for this is simple: here, they are allowed to release their physical energy and aggression in a strictly controlled situation in an acceptable manner. Furthermore, and even more importantly, the student is taught self- control, courtesy, and integrity along the course of their training. In fact, the building of positive character is the cornerstone of training here.

Timid children learn to have more confidence in themselves as they master skills and engage in pysical contact that is strictly controlled. Students are encouraged to support one another here, and to exercise care when doing self-defence or sparring. Very rarely is anyone hurt, but the classes often teaches timid children that they are a lot tougher than they thought they were.

Tae Kwon Do training will enhance any other sport your child may choose, since it builds coordination, flexibility, endurance, and strength. Some students take time off their Tae Kwon Do training for a team sport, and then return to seek their next rank. One of the wonderful things about this sport is that it has no "season." We train year-round.

Eagle Spirit Academy is run as a Christian endeavor. Eastern mysticism, meditation, and the like are not taught here. Life choices are made based on what wisdom and reason a man learns. As your child continues his training, bit by bit, the qualities of courtesy, integrity, perserverance, and self-control will become more noticeable at school and at home. They will have made these tenets a part of their character that will help them bless those around them.

Hyper-active or inattentive children are gradually taught to control their fidgeting and inappropriate chattiness, while learning to focus on the instructor or a skill.

Call 307-527-5425 for more information or to enroll your child in an introduction lesson; the cost is $30-$60 depending on the class requirements. These are taught on Mondays at 5:30, Fridays at 3:30, or early afternoon if the child is home-schooled.
